Voyager season 5, episode 10, “Counterpoint”
Although Kashyk ( Mark Harelik ) was credibly the most torrid of Janeway ’s romances , their relationship in " Counterpoint " elevated the episode to new dramatic heights . Kashyk and Janeway were another damned couple , given that he was always plan to betray her to his people . However , Kashyk ’s unclear motivations andthe forbidden nature of their family relationship made the whole storyline very exciting . Kashyk was also one of the few romantic partners in Janeway ’s life who seemed to be her cerebral equal , and the thespian once again had awing chemistry which help elevate their brief affair to one ofVoyager ’s most memorable romantic subplots .

Janeway ’s most important relationship by far was with Chakotay ( Robert Beltran ) her First Officer , Quaker , and confidant with whom she also shared palpable romantic chemistry thanks to the time of year 2 episode " Resolutions . " Although the two never officially engaged in a romanticistic relationship , they came very nigh during " Resolutions , " and the unrequited lovemaking aspect of their subsequent partnership was strongly hinted at on several other occasions throughoutVoyager ’s running game . Chakotay was the most ordered of Janeway ’s love interests , andtheir relationship was relevant to the plot of ground for longer than any of the other men in her life , including Mark .
Although a true romance between Janeway and Chakotay would have been a bad idea forStar Trek : Voyager , their skinny friendly relationship and clear passion for each other make Chakotay the best of Janeway ’s sexual love interests .
