Dune 2’s Messy Timeline Creates Some Problems (But It’s Not Important)

This is a major change from the script , where several year elapse while Paul Atreides is in the desert getting together his Fremen army for the final attack against the Harkonnens and the Emperor .
Denis Villeneuve ’s conclusion to compress theDune : Part Twostoryinto a shorter span of time may give the film a stronger sensation of advancing momentum than if he had incorporated a days - long clock time jump into the third enactment . However , the compression does create an issue . By giving Paul only a unforesightful sentence to come through over the Fremen , Villeneuve makes the desert dwellers ’ conversion into warfare - like fanatic feel rush and moderately unconvincing . Had the film act out like the book , it would be easier to accept the Fremen cohering into an army uncoerced to die for Muad’Dib .

So much secret plan is churned through in the back one-half ofDune : Part Twothat it feels like important thing are being helping hand - waved . It also find unknown that Lady Jessica would still be pregnant , as much more than nine month seem to have passed by the end of the pic . Villeneuve ’s book changes do mess with theDune 2timelinein somewhat disorientate ways , but it ultimately does n’t weigh , as the film deliver an awesome cinematic experience nonetheless .
