SinceThe Connersseason 6 gave Harris a plotline in its premiere , the show could be holding off on Mark ’s history to give the role more direction after on . Mark burnt himself out and develop a problem with prescription drugs due to excessive studying in season 4 , which means he could be get through something similar in college unbeknown to his class . This would excuse his drawn-out absence , and it would be a moving revelation considering his gran ’s struggles with substance vilification .
