Like Damien Lewis inBand of Brothers , Butler would lead the 100th through boneheaded and thin . Butepisode 4 changed that narrative . Now , Butler has been gone for two episode , going on three , and another character , Lt . Col . Robert ' Rosie ' Rosenthal , play by Nate Mann , seems to be rise in the ranks based on the episode 6 teaser .

In many way , episode five is a transition in condition of chief characters . Cleven does n’t appear at all in the episode , and though it may have been potential for Major John Egan to take over as the Pb , he ends up evacuate the Munster Raid via parachute , putting himself at risk of becoming a POW . In the end , theonly man go out standing and ready to flyis Lt . Col . Robert Rosenthal . And his ascension to main character make sentience . After performing such a heroic job , Rosenthal can become the drawing card that Cleven did n’t get to be after Bremen .
The existent Robert ' Rosie ' Rosenthal truly did fly the only centesimal plane that made it back from the Munster Raid . He continue to fly missions until the ending of the war .
It Makes Sense Masters Of The Air’s Biggest Stars Aren’t Its Main Characters
While some may be disappointed by the paring back of Austin Butler ’s graphic symbol , it in reality makes sentience . Masters of the Airis a comrade toBand of buddy , which was well - known for its ensemble mold . Though there were definitely big star , the show gaveeach graphic symbol the same grade of respect and attention . Masters of the Airis belike doing the same affair . Actors like Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan would take away from the team prospect of the show , therefore , their character are take out of the spot to make elbow room for others .
