Paul eventually faces off against Shaddam after he drinks the Water of Life and rallies the Fremen to his cause . Though he does not kill Shaddam , Paul does endDune 2victorious over him by successfully win over Shaddam to permit him marry his daughter and killing Feyd - Rautha ( Austin Butler ) , who playact as Shaddam ’s champion in a affaire d’honneur . However , this move was actually to overcharge Shaddam of his Sardaukar training groundwhile still allow Paul look as the magnanimous person . Shaddam reside there and remained on the planet for the respite of the story , plat to take his empire back .

Why Didn’t Paul Atreides Kill Emperor Shaddam in Dune 2?

Paul pass on Shaddam alive to insure a natural expiration of powerand to destroy Shaddam ’s legacy . With his ascension as Lisan al Gaib as well as his attitude as the loss leader of his planetary house , Paul amass more power than any other house and avenges his father ’s death .
